Festive Firepower: Kodiaks Close Out 2025 With 7–1 Holiday Win

It was a holly, jolly night at the Cambridge Ice Arena as the Cambridge Kodiaks delivered a sleighful of goals in their final game before the holiday break, skating to a commanding 7-1 victory over the Milton Keynes Falcons.

The arena was buzzing with festive cheer, Christmas sweaters, and the unmistakable sound of Christmas tunes (and goal horns) ringing through the rink.

Both teams came out strong in the opening period, trading chances and hits in what felt like a hard-fought gift exchange on ice.

The scoreboard stayed frozen at 0–0 until the final minute of the first, when Josie Milton found the back of the net off a beautiful play from Aurora Dobbs, giving the Kodiaks the lead heading into the intermission.

The second period saw Cambridge come alive with renewed energy. Whatever magic was in the Kodiaks’ hot chocolate kicked in as Alicia Anderson blazed up the ice on a highlight-reel rush to double the lead and open the floodgates. Moments later, Stephanie Yiu notched her first goal as a Kodiak, cashing in on a hard-earned play with Scarlett Shelton and Catherine Leake collecting well-deserved assists.

As the Falcons grew rough and penalties piled up in the third, the Kodiaks kept their pace. Ashley picked up where she left off, scoring early in the frame on another Carter-fueled rush. The chances kept coming – from Carter, Anderson, Ledbury, Shelton, and Julia Maybury – as Cambridge dominated the play.

Ashley completed her hat trick in style, stealing the puck in the neutral zone and snapping it home, thanks to a perfect screen from Yiu and Rachel Holland. But she wasn’t done – on a late power play, a Carter rebound found Ashley again, who buried her fourth goal of the night to cap off a festive performance by the Kodiaks.

The Kodiaks closed out their pre-holiday schedule with a 7-1 victory, a statement win filled with teamwork, tenacity, and Christmas spirit.

With lights twinkling and the stands full of cheers, the Kodiaks skated off the ice ready to enjoy a well-earned break set to come back in the new year ready to keep the fire burning.
