Kodiaks Unleash Offensive Firepower in Commanding Home Win


The Cambridge Kodiaks put on a sensational display in front of their home crowd on Saturday night, delivering a commanding 17–2 victory over Streatham Storm in WNIHL 1 South action.

The game got off to a dramatic start, with the visitors scoring just six seconds after the opening face-off. However, the early setback only served to spark a ferocious response from the Kodiaks. Cambridge quickly settled into their rhythm and equalised soon after, before unleashing a relentless offensive surge that saw them score seven goals in the opening period.

Momentary lapse leads to swift Kodiaks dominance 

Wave after wave of Kodiaks pressure overwhelmed the Storm defence, with sharp passing, quick transitions, and clinical finishing on full display. By the first intermission, Cambridge had already built a commanding 7–1 lead and firmly seized control of the contest.

Continued Pressure and Kodiaks battered the Storm 

The second period followed a similar pattern, as the Kodiaks continued to dictate the pace of play. Strong puck movement and sustained offensive zone pressure resulted in four more goals, extending the lead to 11–1.

The depth of the Kodiaks roster was evident, with scoring and assists spread throughout the lineup and continued defensive discipline limiting Streatham’s opportunities.

Final period light up at the Cambridge Ice Arena

Cambridge showed no signs of slowing down in the third period, maintaining their intensity and focus. The Kodiaks added another six goals in the final frame, capitalising on their lone power-play opportunity and continuing to press until the final buzzer.

It was a standout night for several Kodiaks skaters, with Christina Ashley, Josie Milton, Chloe Carter, and Scarlett Shelton all recording hat-tricks, while Julia Maybury and Alicia Anderson each notched and goal and assists, and Kodiak Vetran Saara Karvonen had an incrdible night with a goal and six assists. Meanwhile, rookie Flo Southwood also got herself on the game sheet with an eceptional finish in the second period. Further assists came from both the defensive line with Vivan McGee and Joa Hoshizaki driving play and up front from Rachel Holland, Catherine Leake and Stephanie Yiu. All around it was an an exceptional team performance, anchored by Alice Beardmore in net. The result highlighted not only Cambridge’s attacking firepower, but also their structure, work rate, and cohesion across all three periods.

Despite a short bench, Streatham Storm battled to the end and added a late goal in the final minute, but the night belonged to the Kodiaks, who were composed, ruthless, and dominant throughout.

A statement win on home ice, the Cambridge Kodiaks once again showed their strength, depth, and ambition as they continue their WNIHL 1 South campaign.
